The Korean performance…..

The Indian performance…..

And the… er, American performance. What does this say about our culture???? 🙂

The cultural contrast in that last pic is quite stark. It would appear we Americans are devoid of any real sense of beauty. Probably more true than we would care to admit.

It's true, Amanda. I had never really thought about it before attending these events. I mean, the performance these guys did was supposed to be funny (and it definitely was), but when the American "clan" at HOPAC tries to come up with a performance, we usually end up singing a patriotic song. There's not much else that is distinctly "American." One year some people did an American football demonstration. I guess that's American!

last year Malachai's school had a special celebration and all the classes dressed up as a specific culture and danced a typical dance (you know how it goes . . . )

the united states was represented by "hip-hop" – – dancing to "gangster's paradise"!

    nice, huh?

maybe the beauty in what your Americans have to offer is their willingness to try something funny or innovative . . .
